Dense Pack Cellulose
R-value: R3.8 per inch
Dense pack cellulose is the process of taking loose cellulose and installing it into wall cavities with an insulation blowing machine. "Dense Pack" refers to installing the cellulose at a high enough density that the physics say the cellulose wants to expand--not contract. So the answer to that question "Will it settle?" is no -- not if installed at the right density. When installed properly, it provides one of the most uniform, durable insulation systems available. The result is a wall assembly that provides:
* Better fire protection - more time to get out of a home in case of fire
* Better air stoppage - wind can't blow through it as easily and cold air can't fall through it (which does happen with fiberglass batts)
* Better ability to stop heat transfer in summer and winter
* Better sound deadening
* Less likely to be hazardous to your health
* More recycled content
